When you Fast...

When you fast….

I know a lot of us are fasting in this first month of the year. Whether 21, or 7 days but WHEN YOU FAST God gives us specific instructions. It’s not of choice of should we, but WHEN YOU DO IT….

16 “Moreover, WHEN YOU FAST, do not be like the [a]hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 17 But you, WHEN YOU FAST, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret WILL REWARD YOU [b]openly. Matthew 16:16-18 NKJV

There is a REWARD that comes with your OBEDIENCE! What you do in secret God will reward openly. I know some of us are corporately fasting and that’s okay too, because you still are not to walk around telling everyone what you are doing, making loud noises and hype about it. You still are not to look as though you want to eat or something is wrong so people can ask you what’s wrong, so you can tell them, “I’m Hungry” “I’m Fasting”….. Stop it!

Get your mind right. What’s your why for fasting? Ultimately you want to see God do something in your or others and something only come by FASTING and PRAYER!

So I encourage you that WHEN YOU FAST do it in accordance with God’s word and He WILL reward you for your obedience!
