Leave to Cleave…

Back to Ephesians. “…For this reason a man shall LEAVE his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh.” Ephesians 5:31

24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall CLEAVE unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. Genesis 2:24 KJV Look how the words are intertwined. Leave - EXIT, GO, DEPART, and DISATTACH so that you can Cleave- be JOINED, TIED, ATTACHED, CONNECTED, MERGED to your wife. Then you will be ONE FLESH. My God! You are no longer two, but one. Selfishness dies. You are no longer two, but one. You are no longer two, but one.

You can’t stay attached to mommy’s nipple and daddy’s wallet. You can’t remain in mommy’s lap and on daddy’s back. It’s time to LEAVE in order to CLEAVE to who God has joined you to. After you say “I do” you have now been joined to your wife. Your husband. Leave in order to cleave. God has now made you one. Your wife, your husband matters. Decisions you make together matter. Everything that you do now is not just you but it’s the two of you who have become one.

Today thank God for your marriage and how it is growing the way God desires it to grow as a union. We bind every hindrance, distraction, anything with an agenda to cause division, discord or confusion in our marriages right now. We are one. We are joined. We are looking more and more like Christ every day. Amen!
