Do you breathe selfless serving/love?

Good morning SELFLESS Life Speaker!

Do you breathe selfless serving?

As we move into the book of Ruth, Naomi encouraged Orpah and Ruth to TURN BACK three times before Orpah which means “back of the neck” “stiff-necked” did exactly that and turned back to where they had left “Moab”. Moab - Moab is the incestuous son of Lot with his oldest daughter. We know the story of Lot and his wife. What they were leaving behind looked better and was familiar than the unknown of where t...hey were to go, so angels had to come and pull Lot and his wife out, but Lot’s wife looked BACK and turned into a pillar of salt.

In those days widows were not treated very well. They were taken advantage of or ignored. They were most likely poverty stricken as well. Orpah could be thought of as selfish and stubborn, but she was familiar with what was BACK there than where they were going. She could possibly remarry and start over again. Ruth on the other hand “CLUNG” to Naomi, regardless of the hardship she would endure to keep moving forward, she thought of someone else’s life before her own.

Do you care enough about others that you will selflessly give, live and breathe to serve and love? Orpah was not necessarily wrong for her decision, but it was not a demonstration of selfless love. It was not putting others before herself. How many of us would have made the same decision? We do it today and don’t even realize it. What’s familiar looks better than what’s unknown, so we continuously go BACK to what we know.
